OVD015 : Pierre Vervloesem / Pot-Pourri Vol.3

OVD015 : Pierre Vervloesem / Pot-Pourri Vol.3

Eleventh in a chronological series of 11 digital only remastered releases (6 solo (5 augmented with bonuses, lives and remixes), 1 duo, 1 unreleased duo and 3 pots-pourris and coming at the pace of one every month is the Vol.3 of the mini Pot-Pourri series.

The Pot-Pourri series presents for the first time all the never released music ever composed by Pierre (bio) Vervloesem.
A long time desire on his personal agenda, it took a few months to Pierre to remember, locate and clean the various old K7, tapes and various mp3 he succeeded to find.
It covers all the material he started to record when he was twenty years old up to now.
The songs here are demos, live recordings, unreleased tracks, various ideas and proper fun times.
We have to thank the various fans and friends who were keeping some of those treasures without Pierre knowing, particularly long time friends and occasional collaborators Jean-Pierre Jonckheere (see OPV07), Alain VDS (see OVD012) and Manu Ribot (see OPV004).
Most of all the musicians who played at least once with Pierre can be heard on the tracks and it would be impossible to name all of them ( since Pierre doesn't know for sure who is doing what sometime), but they will probably recognize themselves, notably Richard Belgium (see OPV003) who's singing on a few songs.

Digital release on the 3rd of April 2015.

OCD/OLP025 : Leatherman / Romania

OCD/OLP025 : Leatherman / Romania

"I hope you're aware of the fact that I'm not a real singer"...
That's what lyricist Jacques Duvall (he wrote songs for Jane Birkin, Sparks, The Runaways, Lio) told Jean-Marc Lederman when asked if he was interested in participating as a vocalist in Jean-Marc's new musical project.
Lederman, one of the most versatile keyboard players in continental Europe (he worked with French rock icon Alain Bashung and numerous British bands such as Fad Gadget, The The and Gene Loves Jezebel) dryly answered:
"That would be no problem, since I'm not a real musician".
The diabolical duo named themselves LEATHERMAN and their first album consists of somewhat deranged cover versions of several favourite songs of theirs. If you believe that beauty can sometimes be slightly out of tune, then you're a candidate to fall in love with this very peculiar record.
LEATHERMAN's goal is not to deconstruct or to shock, both participants are devoted popular music lovers.
They just attempted to prove that a good song can perfectly stand the test of being left in the rough and non conventional hands of genuine amateurs, as opposed to well skilled but jaded pros.

Digital and physical release on the 27th of March 2015.
“Romania” is a single cd or a splendid red 180 gr vinyl.

OCD024 : LAS vegas / LAS vegas

Cover art by David Crunelle

OCD024 : LAS vegas / LAS vegas

If green felt and failure had a sound, if lucre was anything less than filthy, if there was any merit at all to the meretricious, LAS vegas would not exist formed as it was around the dueling talents of Kris Engelen, Raphaël Rastelli, Eugene S. Robinson, and Dominique Van Cappellen-Waldock and capturing, or as near as possible, the chill of endless neon and nights full of nothing but.

WHO:
Kris Engelen (programming/synths), from Brussels, solo creator of  ambient/industrial Lost.
Raphaël Rastelli (programming, recording/mixing), co-founder of Brussels-based cinematic doom band von Stroheim.
Eugene S. Robinson (voice/lyrics) as "The American Friend". Sings for OXBOW (biointerview).
Dominique Van Cappellen-Waldock (songwriting, lyrics, guitar, voice/theremin) started Baby Fire (see OCD018).

WHAT
Eugene S. Robinson was invited to contribute to "Bureau d’Echange du Mal: Dust Soup", a track featured on Baby Fire’s debut album No Fear, released on Cheap Satanism Records (Belgium).

LAS vegas grew out of this. LAS vegas is this. LAS vegas is nothing if not this.

Nice review in French in Music in Belgium here, in Perte & Fracas here, in Over blog here, and in Indie Rock Magazine here.
"Un souffle désertique, chargé de fantômes, un paysage aride qui touche infiniment. Exit de LAS Vegas provoque beaucoup avec très peu. Less is more et cætera."
