OMT008 : Big-T / The World Within Me

Thabang Montsho AKA BIG-T was born in the township of Mamelodi in the east of Pretoria.
His love for music started when he was 2 years old. It all started with his grandfather who was an opera singer and played the piano. He would always listen to him practice and start doing the same and that’s how it all began.

He started out as a street rapper and DJ and as time went by he found the sound that he was most comfortable with. His beats and music are a South African blend of Hip-Hop, Kwaito, RnB and House music while his flow is a mix of English, Tswana and Zulu.

He's currently compiling a single that will venture into the newly found Kasi genre called Amapiano and adding that into the mix.
Music is his life and he honestly can’t see himself doing anything else.

Here is his first EP with four powerful titles that represent perfectly the man and his music! Time to listen and enjoy!

OUW005 : Remo Zanin / Violence

Remo Zanin is a contemporary musician who does sound experimentation. 
In the past he collaborated with Enrico Vezzi creating sound installations in Italy and France.
In 2018 Christa and Remo recorded the album 'Violence' at home using a computer, some outboards for effects, and a phone app for the drum beat.
As for the lyrics, they used the cut up technique, cutting words from a contemporary art newspaper.
'Violence' is a lo-fi album made also as a tribute to staying at home, relaxing and creating music without pressure.
The mastering of the album was done by Mark Kramer who has also collaborated with Allen Ginsberg, Half Japanese and Daniel Johnston among others.

Released originally in 2010 (see ORT001), Pierre thought that it would be fun and exciting to re release a new version of the Album Sketches of Pain for its tenth anniversary! 

There you are with Caca 2020 completely remixed and remastered and with 3 bonus tracks never released on the first version.

"Caca is the new band of Pierre Vervloesem.
This new megalo delirious adventure is based on second degree, starting by the name of the band which, quoting Pierre, has nothing to do with scatology.
Here, he renews his taste for big formations like he did with X-Legged Saly or still does with Flat Earth Society.
With Caca, he signs a very interesting parody of Jazz working with two noisy quartets.
The first one being guitar, bass, drums and keyboard while the second being alto, tenor, baritone and bass saxes.
The composing is without concession, like a rock, sometime out of tune, but ultimately ultra melodic and reaching at times some of the best John Barry ambiances.
Most of the musicians on the album (and live) are coming from the Jazz scene, which is also kind of fun for Pierre.
The music is an heritage from the New-york scene from the 70-80ties but has an instant modern echo which makes you want to move your frets on it!"

Static tribal mantra of deafening delicacy and tearing mercy 

On this new project, Gustavo Madrid decided to mutate one more time and use a new disguise. 

Once it was Mutantes Melancólicos (see the mysterious and powerful ODG034), then NO:ID., after that Madrid Solo and now it is Ensamble Desmembrado. 

Even if he created the whole album by himself, alone in his studio with no collaborators at all, this piece of music could have been a collective creation for its complexity and duration. Contrary to the principles used on previous projects, he decided to use the maxim “more is further more”. This can be appreciated not only on the quantity of the piece`s arrangements but also on the variety of instruments and sounds that are unfolded throughout the 48 minutes of this work`s length. 

He started to work on this conceptual album in 2015 using a guitar arpeggio as starting point. He added sound passages taken off improvisations and layered them on top of diverse sound samples and loops giving shape to the cinematic feel of this new piece of music. In-between extended instrumental parts he included a song that he`d written in his Sherbrooke Est apartment in Ville-Marie, Montréal, Québec, Canada, sometime during 2004. 

For the period of the 4 years that lasted the conception of the piece, Madrid`s interests and influences took diverse and new paths allowing unexpected variations and fruitful sources of inspiration to give place to the coexistence and marriage of ambient passages à la William Basinski and the neo-psychedelia of the Legendary Pink Dots, of “field recordings” 

and Jacques Brel`s chanson, of Black Heart Procession`s gloom and Jon Hassell`s “Fourth World”, to ally minimalism and “World Music” adding electronic manipulation to certain sound elements looking forward to creating a new kind of noise expression.

'Evoke': Poetry reading, so to say, or poetry accompanied by music? 
No, this album is a rich flow of beauty, an atmosphere of words and voice and music and sound, as a whole. 
The electro ambience, noise/silence, the crisp and sophistication of sound effects are created by Wataru Iwata.
Yukiko Hiranuma generates her scenes of poetry, her voice full of life and charm, sometimes like a monologue, or a spirit in speech.
The emotion and spirit of each poem co-exist and fuse with the futuristic electro ambience where one can even notice some melodies of classical taste. 
Deep somewhat dark but lighthearted, pure and cruel ...and touching, is this album of 8 pieces “no direction”.

Wataru Iwata (see also OJP038 and OJP039) :
He grew up and learned music in the field of free jazz in New-York. Plays in duos, trios etc. as a pianist but his activities are in various fields, from classical music to electro ambient, composing, playing and producing, painting, creating video artworks. Now planning and launching some Trans disciplinary art projects.
