OUC001-OAS000 : Gao Yanqin / Prelude
First release on the new (Un)classical Collisions series dedicated to all kind of contemporary classical music or (un)classical trained musicians composing in an un classical way or using their classical instrument in an un classical manner, twisting sounds with whatever, electronics, field recordings, electroacoustic...is the Ep album 'Prelude' from Yanqin Gao.
She is a computer-based composer and filmmaker living presently in Shanghai after finishing her education in Beijing Film Academy and China Academy of Art.
Her music is often inspired from silent movie, film noir and visual artworks and
she tends to make dark and weird notes influenced by impressionism period, jazz chord and atonal music.
She also makes story-telling video works for her music and is currently exhibiting her various works in China.
The four tracks on 'Prelude' are a subtle combination of West meets East (un)classical collisions and the simple and very modern contemporary way of posing her voice on track three add a singular emotion to her music.
