LEMOND is the nickname of Thierry Mondelaers, Belgian song writer “known” in his country as the singer of X-legged-Sally the Flamish pataphysician metal funk jazz band with whom he recorded two albums in the late nineties. After XLS ‘s split he went on with « A GROUP » with Peter Vermeersh and Pierre Vervloesem (deUs first album producers), made two albums — the first having been produced by Spencer Chrislu (Frank Zappa’s sound engineerer).
In 2000 he started with a solo project and recorded 17 songs of his own under the name of LEMOND and performed around Belgium with his own band (Anne Fontigny, Didier Fontaine, Pascale Vervloet).
Raised at the breast of English pop music, French variété, TV soaps, film music, he studied music by himself, studied painting & philosophy in Brussels
His teachers were Andy Partridge, Georges Brassens, James Ensor, and Ludwig Wittgenstein. The result is an eclectic bunch of songs wherein melody and soundscapes are the main actors.
